Welcome to St Joseph's, part of the Leamington Catholic Community
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to the website of St Josephs Catholic Church in Whitnash. We are a community of the Christian faithful, a small part of the body of Christ. We work in collaboration with St Peters Church, Leamington Spa and Our Lady's Church in Lillington. Together we make up Catholic Leamington. In these times of mission and evangelisation we work together as priests, deacon, religious and lay faithful to spread the message of the good news of Jesus Christ to all those we serve and beyond. I hope you find this website helpful and informative. You can find all the weekly information for St Josephs as well as the Mass times and other services in our sister parishes. May God bless you. Fr Andrew Franklin.
From Fr Andy:
The disciples, hearing John say “Look, there is the lamb of God” begin – out of curiosity? – to go after Jesus. Jesus turns round and asks them: “What do you want?” Hear Jesus ask you that question today. Generally we tend to think that we should be asking, What does God want? But no, he also wants to know what we want. The answer to that question is less for his benefit than for ours. Our answer will tell us what our real priorities are with regard both to God and the people and the world around us. What do we really want from life, from God? It is not such an easy question to answer – it is easy to be superficial or flippant – but it tells us where we really are. And it is a question we will have to answer at different stages in our life as circumstances change. As some of you know I was called to Ireland on Tuesday to be with my close friend Fr Jack Keegan. I have known Fr Jack since I was 10 and he was my parish priest and school chaplain back home in Wales. As I write this he is in the last stages of his earthly life and I will return to Ireland for his funeral Mass in West Meath next week. I will be there with the Bishop and priests of my home diocese of Wrexham. Please do keep Fr Jack, his family and friends in your prayers. May God continue to bless us, Fr Andy.
