With numerous houses being built many young families were coming to Whitnash to reside. As there was a place for worship in the hut-Church and a house had been found in Golf Lane for the priest to live, the priority was a School for the Parish Children.

With the permission of the Birmingham Diocesan Commission for Schools land was soon purchased for a school building and plans were approved by the various authorities. Work began in early summer of 1964 on land in Rowley Road.

While the building was going on the five year olds in the Parish were taught in a rented hall.

Sr Marie, a sister of St Paul’s – Selly Park, and Headmistress of the school in Cashmore Avenue helped these children by loaning Mrs Howard to be in charge.
