With numerous houses being built many young families were
coming to Whitnash to reside. As there
was a place for worship in the hut-Church and a house had been found in Golf
Lane for the priest to
live, the priority was a School for the Parish Children.
With the permission of the Birmingham Diocesan Commission
for Schools land was soon purchased for a school building and plans were approved
by the various authorities. Work began in early summer of 1964 on land in
Rowley Road.
While the building was going on the five year olds in the
Parish were taught in a rented hall.
Sr Marie, a sister of St
Paul’s – SellyPark,
and Headmistress of the school in Cashmore
Avenue helped these
children by loaning Mrs Howard to be in charge.
Over the years the school was enlarged and with
the Warwick Gates Development at the turn of the century a further extention of the school was approved.
On completion Archbishop Vincent Nichols came to bless the extension in June 2002
